I am back. Had some computer problems and was off=line for a few days, and then had a relapse.  So I have some catching up to do. Thanks for the forum.

Hello board, newbie here.  64 yr old long time married man starting retirement and taking inventory of my life.  Been married 44 yrs and discovering that PMO has probably caused much unneeded stress all these years, time to make a change!  I am glad I've found this site, now I don't feel unique and isolated.  I want to change and hopefully rejuvenate my marriage going into the retirement years.  Hopefully I can change enough noticeably to rekindle the intimacy in my marriage which a PMO addiction may have squashed over the years, hopefully the remaining years can be like a honey moon which we never had.  Look forward to getting to know all you good guys.

Hey tj, welcome.  You might want to start your own journal.  At the top of the page when you click on Ages 40 and up, you can click on New Topic and title your own journal.  That lets those of us on here find you and help you, or encourage you as you change.  Just know it can be done.  My husband and I are around 60.  But it does take time, work and committment to get there.  My journal is Surprise over in the women's section.

Good luck!

Back to day 3 seems like I've been here before.  Restarting the process always reminds me of the Pink Floyd song,

We're just two lost souls living in a fish bowl,
Year after year.
Running over the same old ground,
Have we found the same old fears.

I've got a new shot of inspiration from some posts this morning.

One thing that really stuck with me was that I have been thinking about meeting a goal of one month and should have the mind set eliminating porn permanently.  Not that l breaking the goal into smaller attainable goals and living in the moment aren't good tools.

So I will change my mind set to no more porn and use the days, weeks, months as steps instead of goals.

I like that thought, Mojo.

I, as well have the mindset of eliminating porn completely from my life. So far, so good. I knew it was damaging to my brain....my life.....and I finally made the connection that I had wired my brain that way. I also had the power to unwire it. That's pretty powerful in my book.

Keep it going!!!

Turn 51 today.  Went to the DR yesterday for something that has been bothering me off and on for a month or so.  Looks like I have some inflammation in my abdomen, so i get a CAT scan for my birthday. What I'm reall pissed about is missing a fishing trip.

Feeling good about Day 5 of my re-reboot.  It is time to get porn out of my life for good.

My diagnosis was diverticulitis.  Looks like 10 days of antibiotics should take care of it.

Things are going well.  I did have an urge to check out a racy post on facebook, but was able to curb myself. No more porn is my mantra for today.

Getting into the time frame where I usually start slipping back.  I need to be vigilant and remember that I do not want porn as part of my life.

Sometimes when I feel the triggers starting up on me, I try to do something I don't normally do during that time of the day. Doing something that is out of my routine helps me out a lot. It can be as simple as walking to the end of the block and back.

I find at times like that I need to get into something that requires either a great deal of concentration or exertions such as reading or working around the house.  Get your mind or body busy with something you enjoy.

Thanks for the support.  I do need a change in routine. Right now I am on antibiotics for an infection in my colon and have really been feeling the effects the last few days.  So mental and physical capacity is a a low for the next 5 days.  Fells like all I want to do when I get home from work is to sleep.

Anyway going to be more vigilant over the next fe days.

Again thanks for the support,

Has not been a particularly good past couple of weeks.  Stress level has been up and I have fallen back into some bad habits.
