Hello. I’m a high school student in Japan.
I have tried to quit porn for a long time.
Most Japanese people don’t think that porn is dangerous and I don’t have a friend who can talk about porn. l have felt very lonely. I want to have a friend who and l can help each other.
I'm sorry for my poor English.

It looks like you're looking for an accountability partner. Try here: https://forum.rebootnation.org/index.php?threads/358/

Also, it helps to comment on other people's threads and ask successful rebooters for advice. If you can I also recommend reading Gary Wilson's book, Your brain on porn, another book that was helpful for me was The Easy Peasy Way to Quit Porn. I hope you have success.

Your English is fine.

I used to think porn was not harmful. I even convinced myself it could be helpful.

But even setting aside exploitation, and focusing just on the consumer ... it is like other drugs. Some people can get by with occasional use -- but when it becomes a habit, and the habit starts demanding more time, longer sessions, more and more deviance ... there is an issue. And it's not good.

Porn is a hyper-stimulus that, over time, will fry the very circuitry in your brain that causes your body to become aroused. You will become dysfunctional. And it can get worse ... it can go beyond sexuality and wreak havoc on other responses, relations to other humans (and this is the WORST ... it's worse than PIED) . We were not designed to be exposed to this kind of easy access to intense and almost infinite variations for as long as we can click a mouse button. There are certain psycho and psycho-physiological realities that we are constrained by and we had better respect them.

If you think you have a problem, you almost surely do. Come here. Read peoples' stories. Know you are not alone. Know that you have people to talk to.

And make it your top priority to get OUT of this habit. I mean, completely out. Ask for help and suggestions.

There is LOTS of help here and elsewhere as well. Look up porn addiction on YouTube. There are also other websites. I find this website very supportive.

Welcome, and may you do well.

I feel like your story is very similar to mine. Most people in the US don’t realize how harmful porn can be. It’s been a long time too. I’ve actually been trying to learn Japanese for about 2 months now. Kanji is hard! I know both of us will get through this together

Thanks for your reply.
I read the book last year. I realized how harmful porn is.
I’ll go to that URL and read other people’s threads as your advice. Thank you.

I’m glad to receive your message.
I thought people in US regard porn as harmful. However, l realized American has the same situation as Japanese.
I think Kanji is hard too. Actually some Kanji can’t be read by Japanese. Good luck!

Americans USED to think that porn is harmful, or at least wrong, and many still do. It USED to be more of a religious warning. But now that it's so easily accessible to everyone at the touch of a button, we can now see what it does we know how it does it. And it's not good... it disrupts and damages your sexual response and apparently it CAN do worse if you don't have anything constructive going on in your life at all. I'm lucky. I have creative outlets and a desire to seek truth ... both of which I can focus on more whenever I feel the pull toward "hey, just one more time, buddy!"

That's a hard "NO".

I'm doing ok. 8 and a half months porn free. Learning to hate it and what it sucks out of your life helps a lot. As I tell people, I think I'm a long-hauler because I ignored the warning signs (I thought it was something else) and I blew right past them for 10 years ... AFTER the problems started. So my brain needs some serious healing.

ポルノは3年前から辞めようと思って苦戦しています……
ただ、このサイトの他の人の体験談や本などを読むことでかなり良い感じです!
今回でケリをつけたいです笑

あぁなるほどね
ずっと3年かん addicted?
You need to find what triggers you to look at it, or when the urge arises what it was exactly that made you get that urge. Also being very careful around social media, those places can have some powerful triggers that are hard to avoid.
まぁ残念ながら、porn and provocative imagery is everywhere in japan I know.
stay here and learn as much as you can and ask us many questions!
