Day 3.

I got some quality sleep today. Instead of sleeping just 6 hours, I slept for 8 hours. I still got up at 4 am to pray and eat my last meal before fasting, and with that I went back to sleep from 6 am till 8 am.

After I woke up I went straight into studying for 4 hours on a project and some turbomachines. At 12 pm head on to college to attend a class on fluid mechanics for 3 hours. I got back home at 3: 30pm and decided to not hit the gym today and let this day be a rest day for my body to recover since my upper back, legs, and arms still hurt from the last two days of training. Instead I continued to study turbomachines for an hour. An hour is left for the sun set so I can break my fast. Overall it was a good day…

Today’s productivity rating: 7.5/10

Keep killing it guys. We got this…

Day 4

Once again I woke up early, I ate my last meal before fasting then prayed and at 5:30 am went straight into studying till 12pm. Whenever I felt bored and a bit stressed I would change the subject. I focused mainly on three subjects, a project, material resistance, and some turbomachinery. After 12 pm I went to college to attend a class. Left the class by 4 pm with a classmate, it was a long walk back home, the conversation was interesting.

I got home by 4:30pm. Didn’t go to the gym today, I will leave it until tomorrow. Instead I studied for an hour. One hour left for the sun to set so I can break my fast. Overall it was a good day. Can’t complain…

Today’s productivity rating: 8/10

Keep pushing, god bless…

Day 5

As always, I woke up early at 4am, ate and prayed and by 5:30am went straight into working on a project until 8:30 am. By 9am I was in college to meet with my group to update them on where I am. Sadly we were supposed to have a meeting with the professor working with us on the project but he didn’t show up, so we called it a day, and I got back home by 11:30 am.

I grabbed my phone for a minute and started scrolling youtube, but snapped out of it, i was supposed to study a subject or two but i was a bit tired, maybe it’s because of the not enough 6 hours of sleep i’m getting, so i took a nap of 3 hours, i don’t know if you would consider 3 hours a nap lol, but it is what it is. I woke up at 4 pm, grabbed my stuff and hit the gym, it was a full body calisthenics basics workout day. It was great. I just got back, and I feel so refreshed.

Today’s productivity rate: 6.5/10.

onwards.

Day 7

Still doing my thing. Waking up early, praying, eating before fasting, and I went straight into studying for 5 hours straight, from 5:30am until 11am. I also got the opportunity to download cold turkey on my laptop to block filth sites, not only that, it also includes social media, dating sites, news sites, gambling sites, shopping sites and the list goes on you just click the category you want blocked and the software will load all the major sites in that category. My list now is up to 988 blocked sites. I wish there was a phone version of it, if there’s any suggestion I'm all ears…

After 11am i went to college, i attended a class about heat transfer and got back home by 3pm, grabbed my bag and hit the gym, did a full body cali moves. Took a cold shower even though the weather was already cold but we persevered. By 5pm I did my last study session of the day for one hour. Overall it was a great day…

Today’s productivity rating: 8.5/10.

Let’s do this. onwards.

...lately I was under a lot of stress and I was overthinking a lot of stuff. My mind played a game on me and it didn't end well.

The brain gets full, and it seeks its release. It does what brains do. But, we (with executive power) get to tell the lower 'beast-brain' where to get off! The lower brain doesn't always have good suggestions (as we all know), but we get to choose which ones to listen to, and which ones aren't beneficial.

You got this, brother. Keep rockin' it!

Yeah, this is the one million dollar question ❓ how can you find this will power?? Or to say it correctly how can you build this muscle?! While you are battling this sneaky addiction at the same time, it's like juggling more balls than you can handle...

This may be controversial, but I wouldn't put too much reliance on willpower. It's good in a pinch, but it's best to not wrestle with our urges, but rather to ignore them. Let them dissipate (and they will!) on their own. It's like a law of the universe (or biology), the urges, no matter how intense they get, will always dissipate on their own.

Google: "Recovery and urge surfing" to get my drift.

But you touch on something important, too. Many folk (not you, necessarily) who have a hard time getting back to lengthier streaks, it's because they don't trust themselves any more, they've let themselves down so many times ("I won't look at that, I won't do this or that"), that they don't have confidence in their own willpower any more.

To combat this (the 'greater jihad'), make little promises to yourself- it can be about anything- and keep them. This will exercise your willpower and build confidence and self-respect again.

I would say that willpower is rather an illusion (can google that also). Or put it more softly -- this resource is limited, time-limited in particular.

The brain functions according to the circumstances you find yourself in. Change your environment, change people around you -- and your behavior will change naturally.

While resting in the same circumstances (on your own, spending hours behind the screen), you will 'naturally' find yourself slipping to the same habits.

All jokes aside @Ezel (my meme) I do think willpower does have something to do with recovery, but like everything else in life it's not a black and white proposition. You ask, how can I build this muscile (will power) for it to grow stronger? And the answer is to constantly use it and engage it. It looks like you're killing it in school with a ridgid schedule with lots of studying, that is discipline and will power. And the more you use it, the more it becomes easier to do repetedly. It's the same with porn, the more you refrain from using it, the more you're training your brain to not go there, even if it "sounds fun" at the moment. However, porn is such an interesting phenomonon becuase it's not just an addiction, it's also biology (unlike alcohal or hard drugs), especially for you as a young buck who hasn't had a woman yet. It's such an easy outlet for our sexuality that to say no to it can be very difficult. Kind of like a man with many options with women, who has to choose (will power) not to cheat on his lady even if it's a constant proposiiton. Well porn is even more enticing in some sense because anyone can "achieve" with women what almost no man can in real life. Thus, I think we do ourselves a disfavor by not saying it takes willpower, because it does, but it's not the only factor in the matter. If it's all just an "addiction" and it's not really "us" then we can free ourselves from taking responsibility for our actions which I find very problematic to say the least. Yes it is an addiction, but yes we also have will power, but yes we shouldn't "fight" it either but do other things besides only counting days. A contradition? Absolutely, but such is life.

Keep fighting but not fighting!
Running but not perspiring.
Working your ass off but with grace and charm.
In other words, keep being YOU.

Hey man -- a little unsolicited but I think you and I had a similar experience. I also tried to go for a long time no MO, but I wonder if it's actually a tougher battle for those who are recovering? I think an initial 90-100 days no PMO reboot makes complete sense, but after that it might be easier to stay away from porn / porn substitutes by reintroducing MO (ideally with a partner is best, but even alone is fine I think) in finite levels (maybe 1-3x a week max).

I don't know the science, but I do know I was tempted to go off the rails after 60+ days of no MO (I've already done a 90+ day no PMO period during my reboot period). Again, it's just an idea -- not sure if this is a case by case thing either, but might help if you think of it as a single 100 day reboot and then reintroduce MO or a partner. At least made me feel like there was a light at the end of a tunnel

Best of luck
